Open Door: Hazlehurst Studios

As part of the LAF Festival 2024, Hazlehurst Studios is delighted to extend an invitation to a tour of its buildings. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the latest exhibition showcased on the gallery walls, see the print room in action, visit the darkroom, and wander through both buildings to discover the studios of talented artists who are part of Hazlehurst Studios.

As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), Hazlehurst Studios is dedicated to providing affordable studio spaces for local artists. Following its expansion into the Grade II listed building last year, the organisation has significantly broadened its offerings for the local artistic community.

Birkenhead Priory

Short Talk and Open Door of two of Wirral’s oldest buildings at The Birkenhead Priory. Learn about the significant history of these fascinating buildings and the past and future projects to make the historic site more accessible for all.

Birkenhead Priory consists of a mixture of Grade 1, 2* & 2 Listed Buildings, on a Scheduled Monument site, hidden away in a small corner of industrial Birkenhead.

Ainsley Gommon Architects have completed 3 phases of work, not only preserving the history of the site and buildings but help remove it from the Heritage at Risk Register, making it more accessible and inclusive to both the local and wider community and preserving the site for future generations. The tour will explore the history of the site, completed works to date and planned future phases.

Please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt 6pm start.
